After a day of dealing with stupid {shhh…don’t tell Quinn I said stupid} things like oil changes and insurance, I needed a smile.
Thought you might need one too!
Did it work?
You’re welcome.
Did you smile again? If not, picture Quinn saying, “He looks like that girl from Tangled!!!”
It made me laugh, for sure!

Praying God’s Word: Week 5
Click here to read about Praying God’s Word with me!!!
And, click here to read the verses that I chose for February!
Week 4 Snippet:
Topic: Me…as a wife
Scriptures:
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
Hebrews 10:24
It's better to live alone in the corner of an attic than with a quarrelsome wife in a lovely home.
Proverbs 21:9
What God taught me this week:
*God made me hold me tongue this week. If something started coming out of my mouth that might give Matt reason to sleep on the roof, I rethought it. Not that I stay in the habit of saying quarrelsome things, but I felt like I was more intentional to be encouraging this week. I pray that it’s something that I continue to keep in the forefront of my mind. Our house is much nicer than our attic anyway!
*This week, my heart smiled when, as I was praying for Matt, I caught myself praying ALL four scriptures that I focused on for January. I was amazed at how God used them all to apply to one specific prayer!!! It solidified to me that praying God’s Word is POWERFUL…and that He is going to do great things this year through praying a specific prayer each week. …Now I’m just praying that He will truly allow me to continue to hide his Words in my heart so that they will continue to come to mind when I need them the most.
Up Next: Week 5
Topic: Our Family…wearing the armor of God
Scriptures:
David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 1 Samuel 17:45
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Ephesians 6:10-18

A Hot Winter Day
That’s what Quinn called Thursday. Cracked me up. It was about 60 and windy…but it was still a “hot winter day!” It was a perfect day for a walk. So, after we picked up Quinn from school, we put Nash in the jogging stroller (for the first time) and strolled around our neigbhrohood!
They both loved our time outdoors. And, thankfully, it looks like we’re going to have more opportunities to be outside…At least until it snows again! Gotta love crazy Texas weather! ![]()
Can you even handle this precious face? {minus the shaggy hair, grody snotty nose that will NEVER go away and the after school snack leftovers!} I love this boy. ![]()

Mammer’s “Big Number” Birthday!
This past weekend, we got to celebrate Mammer! Why!? Because she turned SIXTY! You’d never believe it! Right!?!? And, we had the greatest time…shopping, eating, opening gifts and just having fun with the boys!
On Friday night when Mammer & Slickpaw got here, we had her “party!” Chicken pot pie was on the menu and yummy cupcakes, of course! Quinn was ecstatic and COULD NOT WAIT for Mammer’s birthday. He had talked about it for weeks and said, “I’ll be Mammer’s big number one day!” He loves his Mammer so!
Finally, after a pretty low key weekend, we got to celebrate her real birthday on Monday! Quinn was, once again, ecstatic! He couldn’t wait to celebrate her REAL day! So, after Mammer & Slickpaw took Quinn to school…and Nash took a nap…we picked him up early so that we could go eat {Square Burger in Downtown McKinney…YUM, by the way!!!} and come home to open gifts.
It was a great weekend! And, we were all so thankful to celebrate SIXTY with Mammer! Even though she deserved a BIG bash (which she wouldn't let us throw), we were happy to all be together! …”Make a wish…blow the candles out…Happy Birthday…WEEE LOOOVEEE YOOOOOUUUU!”
The table was fun to decorate. The grapevine balls had lots of fun pictures from the years past…and the little ceramic placecards have words that Quinn said described his Mammer! Sweetness…

Quinn made this little canvas for Mammer…ALL BY HIMSELF! I had ideas, but he wanted NOTHING to do with MY ideas! He wanted a purple flower…with a yellow middle…a green stem and a rainbow! He kept saying, “She’s gunna love this….and put it in a frame in Abilene!” He was right!
Mammer got a bunch of QT with Nash over her long birthday weekend. None of us complained about that…
Quinn was SUPER excited to leave school early to celebrate Mammer…
Eating at Square Burger…
And, when Mammer got this card from Slickpaw, Quinn kept saying that the pic looked like Mammer. It was hilarious! We tried to convince him otherwise, but he kept saying that it did! Mercy. Good thing Mammer is a good sport. ![]()

David & Goliath Day
After a very convicting service at church, I felt the need to be more intentional about focusing on Bible stories with Q. Sure we talk about things he learns at church and school, but I feel that Matt & I need to dig a little deeper with him. So…since the story of David & Goliath is Quinn’s current favorite Bible story, I decided to make a day of it.
So, I made a trip to Mardel to collect my supplies. The Action Bible was actually something we got Quinn for Christmas, but the rest of the books/DVD were great prices. And, I also found David & Goliath action figures. Quinn was beyond excited.
The morning started with working in the Activity Book. Q did most of it in one sitting. He loved it!
Then, after Nash went down for his first nap, we cuddled up on the couch and read the David & Goliath story in his Action Bible. After that, we wrote down some things on the paper slingshot I had made. … Quinn answered the questions “When are you brave?” and “When do you trust God to help you?” I loved hearing his sweet answers.
Then, after some fun “fighting” with the action figures, I asked Quinn if he wanted to draw David & Goliath. And, I was so impressed with the result! Check out Goliath's helmet and shield…and David’s slingshot…and their serious faces! Love it!!!
After lunch, Quinn had a special treat of a slingshot cookie. With the five stones, of course.
Then, after watching the DVD (which I thought was pretty lame…but Quinn wanted to watch it AGAIN and again!), Daddy came home and it was time for the BEST part! Reenacting the whole story.
And, even though Quinn knew that David didn’t use a sword or a shield…he HAD to have them! And the stones (out of foil) were a must!
Watching my boys play and fight and reinact the story that I’d told at least a dozen times today was absolutely priceless! Quinn LOVED every second of it…and Matt did a GREAT job of hamming it up just right.
And, this little onlooker thought it was HILARIOUS! He would belly laugh with every fight of the sword.
Then we played a little game with 5 stones spelling David’s name. We put Goliath’s stone in the middle of a taped off square, and then we’d get five chances to slide the stones in the square to try to knock Goliath out!
And, soon after, Quinn wanted to fight some more. … And, Nash wanted to eat Goliath!
It was a truly great day. Quinn loved the fun activities…and I loved spending so much quality time with my sweet love. And, of course, we all got the message that Goliath was the BIG loser!![]()
